"A Sea Island Legacy" in Go Girl!
The Black Woman's Book of Travel & Adventure

This short essay describes my research experiences among the natural beauty of the Sea Islands which lie off the coasts of South Carolina and Georgia. It speaks of the ancient majesty of great live oaks with their heavy, moss-covered branches, the dusty roads, the musty aroma of nearby marshes, and the history and storytelling of the elderly Gullah people.
